CelebratingGodsDesign  > Landscapes > 2009 Fall Colors in Michigan's UP
I recently returned from a two-week camping trip in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I took over eleven hundred pictures and Rachel helped me narrow them down to these 130 or so. Whew! What a job! It rained much of the time I was away but that enhanced the brilliance of the colors because of the wet leaves and made possible slower shutter speeds so I could get softer waterfalls. The main purpose of my trip was to just spend time being together with God and what a time we had!

I hope you enjoy the pictures and thanks for looking!

By the way, the location where many of these pictures were taken can be found using the "MAP THIS" feature at the top of the page. Over time I'll work on placing other pictures on the map as well.

CelebratingGodsDesign > My first stop was in Two Rivers, WI to visit with some good friends Kevin, Liz, and Brenna. Kevin and I went for an early morning walk to visit this lighthouse where I inadvertently baptized my camera. After a few hours in the oven at a very low heat, the camera worked quite well. So...the remainder of my trip was photographed with my "new and improved" camera and lens. I can still see water in the lens so am amazed that it took seemingly flawless pictures.
CelebratingGodsDesign > Whitefish Falls - not the biggest waterfalls by any means but it was the first of the many I visited.
CelebratingGodsDesign > Maple leaves in dazzling color!
CelebratingGodsDesign > After a brief stay with my niece Julia and her family in Menominee, MI, I went on to King Lake for my first night of camping. This picture was taken from my campsite.
CelebratingGodsDesign > This is from my camping spot on King Lake. A couple there invited me to have supper with them. I had already eaten but accepted their invitation after learning they had been to Caribou, ME. We had lots to talk about.
CelebratingGodsDesign > A Sunset over King Lake.
CelebratingGodsDesign > Some colorful trees as I left King Lake in early morning.
CelebratingGodsDesign > Just an old rotting stump that was beside the trail.
CelebratingGodsDesign > Part of the walkway going in to Canyon Falls
